The Chapter No.1 — Three days. Three mountains. One stag do.

When Wayne and his riding crew headed to the Lake District for Matt’s stag do, nobody was expecting a quiet weekend.

Over three days they hit Whinlatter forest — fast, flowing, berms and rollers on the north loop descent. Then Borrowdale — gnarly descents, steep climbs, views across Derwent Water to Keswick. And on the final day, the one that earned its place in the group chat forever — Helvellyn.

The push to the summit is not a ride. It's a commitment. Steep, rocky, relentless — the kind of ascent that strips away any pretence that mountain biking is a casual hobby. Striding Edge sits narrow and exposed at the top, the kind of place that demands your full attention. Wayne made it. They all did.

“Push up to Helvellyn summit was tough. Worth it for the views and the descent.”

Three evenings ended the same way — local ales in Keswick, a curry on the final night, great company throughout. The kind of riding weekend that becomes a reference point. The one everything else gets compared to.

Wayne wore three different Odyssey long sleeve jerseys across the three days, rotating through each ride. The Camo Tech Hoodie came out on the higher exposed sections — Helvellyn, Whinlatter, Borrowdale — and stayed on at the pub. Worth noting: that’s our older Mud Camo colourway, now discontinued. Still going strong apparently. Practical kit has a way of earning its keep beyond the trail.
